It is with the greatest joy that I greet my fellow choir members, friends and visitors alike with a joyous, Christ Is Risen! Im sitting here in my office listening to a wonderful recording of Orthodox Easter Music while outside my window birds are frolicking in a beautiful pear tree that is only days away from blooming. Spring has finally arrived and it seems like everyone and everything is celebrating this season of rebirth. With that in mind, my thoughts turn to my wonderful choir, an organization in the midst of a rebirth of its own.
The first sign of this miraculous happening is this website. Our newly updated site is the work of many dedicated members who painstakingly reviewed page after page of information to create this wonderful site. Special thanks to: Nikola and John Lukich, Bora and Draga Dragasevic,Milka Cecez, Rada Micic, Angelina Todorovic, and Mirej Vasic. Our heartfelt thanks go to our website designer and the mastermind behind this entire project, Djordjo Vasic. Djordjos dedication, commitment and expertise on this project are incredible and we all thank him and congratulate him for his efforts.
Another example of the rebirth of our choir has been the increase of new members. Weve welcomed eight new members in the last two months, two of which are just sixteen years old. Were especially pleased that the youth within our community are joining us because their presence will insure that our choir will be here for generations to come. Talk about generations, weve also reached an important milestone when Milan Tijanic joined our choir. His mother Nada sings in our alto section while his Deda Vaso sings with the basses. Milans joining now gives our choir a three generation family commitment. Wow!
Another sign of spring is all the little birds building love nests. Well, love is certainly in the air for so many of the members of St. Sava Choir. Vesna recently married Mark, while a long line of soon-to-be-married members are lining up. Still to come brides include: Marina, Angelina and Karolina and we also have Jelena from our soprano section marrying Zoran from our tenor section within weeks. I know all the choir members join me in wishing these members, their spouses and their fiancés many, many years. We also look forward to the next generation of members like Maxim Basa, son of Aleks and Gord.
Our choirs rebirth also includes the development of our long term goals like the celebration of our 50th Anniversary and our recently announced trip to Serbia 2005. Our choir members have set these two goals as priorities, but well need the help and support of the entire community. Well keep you posted on these exciting future events and invite you to join us in our celebrations!
I congratulate each and every member of the St. Sava Choir for the selfless gift they offer their community. Please remember to come out and support the St. Sava Choir so that we in turn can continue to serve our community by singing the beautiful songs of our people! Hristos Voskrese!
Even if youre not the host booking our choir also makes a beautiful wedding, christening or memorial gift!!!
