Ksenija Vucevic- " Music flows through my veins... "

In this new section of our website we are going to present our unique choir members...

Ksenija Vucevic, opera singer

My musical education

From a very early age music was the center of my life.

I  went to the “Kosta Manojlovic” music school in Zemun, where I studied piano, and later solo singing with the professor Milica Popovic.

Upon arrival in Canada, I continued my musical studies with various pianists including professor Penelope Dale at the Toronto Conservatory of Music.

I also took private lessons with the Serbian opera singer Dragana Krstic and the well known professor Irene Brown, mother of the famous Canadian opera singer Russel Brown.

My passion

Every Sunday, I sing as a member in the St.Sava Choir, directed by Nikola Mnojlovic and we sing a unique Divine Liturgy, which leaves us feeling exhilarated and accomplished.

At ten o’clock everything goes silent and divine music starts, spreading like a fine web between the heart and mind.

Nietsche was right when he said “without music, life would be a mistake

My achievements

As a member of the ROC chorus I had the good fortune to be associated with a wide range of exciting projects over the years.

Thanks to Maestro Dwight Bennett and chorus master Gergely Szokolay, I was singing in gorgeous operas:

  1. Nikola Subic Zrinjski”( by I. Zajc)

  2. “La Boheme”( by Giacomo Puccini)

  3. “The  Barber of Seville”( by Rossini), where I enjoyed the whole opera with all my senses , as a supper.

  4. Although canceled “Il Trovatore”( by G. Verdi), introduced us with the most popular parts of the opera.

In addition I sang at the concerts:

  5.  “Night of a Thousand stars”,

  6. “Tales from the Vienna Woods”

  7.   Concert in WestBen”,  and

  8.   Hungarian Hall concert.

A rare opportunity to experience the work of art in full blossom is singing in famous operas:

    “Carmen” by(G.Bizet),

    “Nabucco”, by( G.Verdi),

    “The Magic Flute”,(by A.Mozart),

     “Aida” (by Verdi).

" La Traviata" (by Verdi) and

    " Eugen Onegin" (by Tchaikovsky)

    Music is not like bread...

After all these magic melodies, I know one thing: Music is not like bread, it is like vine: it does not feed you, it intoxicates you - and the next season is promising to be a dream for the opera lovers and even more so for singers.
