News - July/August/September

The Saint Sava choir sure has been busy these past few months!

During July and August we practiced regularly and with enthusiasm, learning beautiful but also challenging pieces such as Jesen,Blazena and Kosovska Elegija. Singing about autumn didn't make the hot Monday evenings any cooler, but still everybody showed up, ready to make beautiful music as well as learn pieces that remind us of our heritage and our Serbian past.

A new member -Larissa Zoubareva has joined our family of singers

A new member - Larissa Zoubareva has joined our family of singers, accompanying the choir director on the piano as well as adding to our choir with her voice. Having somebody play the piano and help out with some of the rough edges was a great help as well as a new and welcomed experience.

Fundraising committee for Serbia 2005

As for our Fundraising committee for Serbia 2005, the members came up with some awesome ideas to raise money in order to make our dream of visiting and singing in Serbia and Montenegro come true. The members have come up with fundraising events such as a garage sale, car wash, selling jams and jarred vegetables, healthy eating seminars, as well as continuing to sell cakes and cookies after church.

Cvijan's Seminar

Naturopathy is based upon a belief in the body's innate God-given natural ability to heal itself when given an appropriate internal and external healing environment.

Naturopathic doctors are conventionally trained in subjects such as anatomy, physiology, counseling, dietary evaluations, nutrition, herbology, acupressure, muscle relaxation and structural normalization, homeopathy, iridology, exercise therapy, hydrotherapy, oxygen therapy and thermal therapy.

Our member and naturopathic doctor Cvijan Vidakovic held a very interesting and well-visited seminar on "How to regain and keep your health" at our Serbian Center. Income earned with this fundraising activity will be added to our fund for Serbia trip in 2004.

Our garage sale was a HUGE success!!

We were expecting to just sell a few things at a small garage sale, but we got the exact opposite.

Members brought in huge amounts of small treasures that had already served their purpose at their home, and they were ready to give away, and it was welcome! We couldn't believe the turnout for our "small' sale

We sold a lot of our things and that brought us one step closer to Serbia 2005.

"Majko Kosovska od Zlata Jabuko"

The choir participated at Rada and Rade Micic's concert "Majko Kosovska od Zlata Jabuko" and it turned out to be an amazing night. The beautiful songs Srpkinja, Blazena as well as Kosovska Elegija added a lot to the great evening. We had a lot of the members show up and we sounded amazing.

"Vasar, September 2004"

This year we baked cakes and worked at the choir table during the Vasar ...the choir raised $461 for our church by selling the cakes and coffee...it was a fun event and we expect we will do it again next year...but for now, a little rest.

2 Important Weddings and Concerts

We did have an extremely busy summer, but wait, no stopping yet, we still have a lot of upcoming events. First, we have two important weddings, that of our choir president Angelina Todorovic and the wedding of our dear choir member Marina. We have another wedding also in October and a christening that we will be singing for. Another big event that we have to work hard for is the upcoming concert in Kitchener that we were invited to. So, after such a busy couple of months, there's no time to stop and take a break, its right back to working hard and spreading our beautiful heritage through music. To a successful month!
